Citizenship

For a donation of USD 100,000, applicants can acquire their passports in as little as three to six months.

Montenegro

The Montenegro Citizenship-by-Investment Program offers increased global mobility with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 120 destinations including the countries of Europe’s Schengen Area, as well as Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Turkey and the UAE. A minimum contribution of EUR 250,000 on the north to EUR 450,000 at the seashore plus contribution to the government fund of EUR 100,000 is required.

Permanent residence permit

I. Category F 

Only persons who do not intend to work, in the Republic of Cyprus can apply for the obtainment of category F residence permit. It is very important to note that holders of this kind of permit, are not entitled to work in the Republic. Neither they are allowed to be shareholders in Cyprus company. Obviously they are allowed to hold shares of any other jurisdiction company. The meaning of this permit is to encourage investments to Cyprus from abroad businesses. The disadvantage of the permit is that the waiting time is not less than 1,5 years.


II. Obtaining a permanent residence permit under the accelerated procedure (Regulation 6.2) 

Criteria:

A. Real estate mandatory

The purchase price must be at least € 300,000 (plus VAT) and proof of payment must be submitted - receipts, account statements.

B. Bank Deposit

A bank deposit of € 30,000 must be reserved with a Cypriot bank for 3 years. The money must be deposited into an account from abroad.

C. Income

  1. Family income must come from abroad and not received in Cyprus.
  2. In addition to the deposit, the applicant must have an average annual minimum income for himself and for each dependent.
  3. Income must come from legitimate sources, evidence provided.

D. Obligation not to be involved in business in Cyprus and not to work directly in Cyprus

Income from Cypriot companies in the form of dividends is allowed and not considered a violation.

E. Certificate of no criminal record from all countries of permanent residence

Work Permits

EU nationals

Despite the principle of freedom of movement in the EU, all EU nationals require a residence permit if they intend to stay and or work in Cyprus for over three months. EU nationals who are intended to stay in Cyprus more than 3 months must apply for a Certificate of Registration within eight days after their arrival to Cyprus. However, given that the process is procedural, EU nationals can start and/or continue working during the application procedure, however the confirmation of submission of application has to be available for inspection.

Νon-EU foreign nationals

A valid work permit is a prerequisite for all non-EU foreign nationals wishing to work in Cyprus. Most work permits are granted through the temporary residence permits system. Depending on the category of the temporary residence permit, the permit can enable the foreign national to reside and work in Cyprus for up to a period of five years and is renewable. The application procedure that needs to be followed is determined by whether or not the employee will be considered an "executive".

Cost. The fees for granting of an immigration permit depend on the category of employment.

Time frame. A work permit can take up to six months to be examined.

Sanctions. The illegal employment of non- EU foreign nationals is taken very seriously in Cyprus, with fines and imprisonment for the employer, and deportation for the employee, used as punishments for not complying with the relevant laws.

Temporary residence permit

Non-EU citizens who wish to extent their stay in the Republic of Cyprus to more than 90 days may apply under the category of Temporary Residence Permit, known as “Pink Slip”. Successful applicants have to renew their permits every year.

More specifically, this permit is provided to non-EU nationals as well as their families, who have adequate income from abroad and are in a position to cover their living expenses in Cyprus, without the necessity of working. Successful applicants who satisfy all the below criteria receive a temporary residence permit card under “Visitor” status which is valid for a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Criteria for Category F permit?

The applicant should have in its possession a secured annual income abroad, high enough to allow for a decent living in Cyprus, without having to engage in any business, trade or profession in Cyprus. This income may derive cumulatively or combined from pensions, dividends, deposits, rents, etc.

The annual income required is of the amount of, at least, EUR 9,568.17 for a single applicant and moreover, at least, EUR 4,613.22 for every dependent person. However, the Immigration Control Board may, at its discretion, demand additional amounts if considered to be necessary.

All of the amounts mentioned above should be proven that have been transferred to the Republic legally from abroad.

Further conditions

Following the permit’s issuance, in case that the holder is residing out of the Republic of Cyprus and has failed to move to the Republic, within a year from the application’s approval, the permit will be automatically cancelled. It will also be cancelled if the holder acquires permanent residence abroad or is absent from the Republic of Cyprus for a period of two years.

What documents do I need to collect to obtain permanent permit?

  1. Income declaration from sources other than employment (original documents and affidavit). An Affidavit of Income of the Applicant, sworn before the Registrar of the District Court of Cyprus or before an officer of the Embassy/ Consular of the Republic of Cyprus
  2. Title of ownership or rental agreement (original or true copy). If the title of ownership has not been obtained yet, the applicant must submit the deed of sale and proof of payment.
  3. Health Insurance Policy, that we will assist to obtain in Cyprus
  4. Criminal Record Certificate (if the applicant resides abroad, official translation) duly legalized
  5. Marriage Certificate (official translation) duly legalised
  6. Children’s Birth Certificates (official translation) duly legalised

What should be the Criteria for the property for Fast track permit?

  1. The property must be purchased in Cyprus.
  2. Buyers:
    • the applicant himself or
    • the applicant's spouse, or
    • both spouses together, or
    • a Cyprus company, provided that the spouses are direct shareholders of the company.
  3. The seller must be directly the Real Estate Developer.
  4. The property itself must be a new building (not a resale).
  5. The purchase price must be at least € 300,000 (plus VAT) and proof of payment must be submitted - receipts, account statements.
  6. At least EUR 200,000 must be paid to the Developer at the time of application, in case of installments.
  7. The contract of purchase and sale must be deposited with the Land Registry Office.

What documents are required in order to obtain Temporary permit?

In order for an applicant to obtain Temporary permit for him and his family he must submit an application at the District Immigration Office of the city he is intended to reside along with the following documents:

  • Application form MVIS3,
  • A copy of the valid passport,
  • A copy of the page of the passport stating the date of the last entry or visa to Cyprus,
  • Original bank guarantee, issued by a banking institution in Cyprus, for a period of 10 years to cover potential repatriation expenses,
  • Marriage certificate translated to either English or Greek,
  • Birth certificate (children) translated to either English or Greek,
  • Health insurance covering in-patience, out-patience and repatriation expenses,
  • Copy of the title deed of any property owned in Cyprus or a copy of the Rental agreement,
  • Proof of income from abroad (this may include any pension, bank statements from abroad, dividends, rental agreements, etc.),
  • Swift confirmation from a banking institution that funds came from abroad,
  • Confirmation letter from the banking institution confirming the availability of funds to the date of application.

What other categories of work permits exist?

We define these categories of permits as less popular among the applicants, however we if you are a specific client they might be more fit for you.

Category A

Persons who intend to work as self employed in agriculture, cattle breeding, bird breeding or fish culture in the Republic, provided that they have in their possession adequate land or a permit to acquire same, they have fully and freely at their disposal capital of approximately €430,000 (CY£250,000) and such an employment should not negatively affect the general economy of the Republic.

Category B

Persons who intend to work as self employed in mining enterprises in the Republic, provided that they have in their possession a relative permit, they have fully and freely at their disposal capital of approximately €350,000 (CY£200,000) and such an employment should not negatively affect the general economy of the Republic.

Category C

Persons who intend to work as self employed in a trade or profession in the Republic, provided that they have in their possession a relative permit, they have fully and freely at their disposal capital of approximately €260,000 (CY£150,000) and such an employment should not affect negatively the general economy of the Republic.

Category D

Persons who intend to work as self employed in a profession or science in the Republic, provided that they have academic or professional qualifications, for which there is demand in Cyprus. Possession of adequate funds is also necessary.

CATEGORY E

Persons who have been offered permanent employment in the Republic, which will not create undue local competition.
